It was the summer of ’55. Marilyn Monroe™ and Tom Ewell were heating up big screens across the country in the outrageous and provocative blockbuster comedy, "The Seven Year Itch." Known as the film that captured every red-blooded American boy’s dream, the movie’s plot revolves around an alluring tenant who moves into the apartment upstairs (she actually has no name in the film and is simply listed as “girl” in the credits) and with her mere presence, rouses the secret desires of a middle-age man spending a long, hot summer…without his wife.

After their chance meeting, Ewell’s imagination runs wild. The thought of this impossibly curvaceous creature only one floor away has singlehandedly turned his world upside down. He is now trapped in a self-made fantasy world of passion, romance and rendezvous. In one famous fantasy scene, a sensual Marilyn™ dominates the film as she slithers suggestively across the room, poured into a bewitching tiger-stripe gown, and drapes herself on Ewell’s Baby Grand piano. He is dressed in a crimson-red dinner jacket, striking at the keys while Marilyn™ nuzzles up next to him and exaggerates a drag of her opera-length cigarette. Gold chandelier earrings flirtatiously brush against her neck and shoulders as she begs, “Don’t ever stop playing.” The playfully evocative banter, teetering on the edge of a full-blown comic bit, continues throughout the scene until the final climactic moment, upon which the couple falls into a dramatic, deep-dip Hollywood kiss.

Although Marilyn™ wore ten different outfits in the film (including the famous white halter-top dress, billowing above a street grate), she undeniably personifies timeless glamour in this strapless tiger-stripe gown.
